The renovation of a one bedroom beach house, several blocks from Laguna Beach, outside of Los Angeles, California. The existing house was purchased by a family with 3 children, originally as a weekend cottage. At only one thousand square feet & one story, it required very precise design decisions in order to get 3 bedrooms and a full kitchen and living area into the design. With the addition of a 2nd floor and very little addition to the perimeter of the existing structure due to strict setbacks and thoughtful spacial organization, the family decided to make the Laguna Beach house their permanent residence.
